When we left charleston, we headed over to Camping World in Myrtle Beach to get a new awning for the trailer. Several things had gone wrong with the old one and the day we left it out, without slanting it and a rain came, finally ended up bending the tube. We arrived there early and were able to get in before our scheduled time. McKenzie and I did some shopping in the store while we were waiting. As you can see, she adapted quite well to being pushed arund the store in the shopping cart.
Once finished, we headed out to Myrtle Beach State park, which was the place we'd call "home" for about 4 days. The Park was only abut 300 yeards from the beach but back in the trees. They had quite a few really big spots, which is unusual for a state park. Shirley and George parked next to us and had plenty of room for their 40 foot motorhome.
The weather has been really great so far. We've had some warm days where we needed to turn on the air conditioning, but most of the nights were coole enough to sleep without it if we wanted.
Shirley and I ran around during the day, finding all types of different stores to browse in. The two Georges repaired things such as hoses which the squirrels kept eating thru. Everything is very dry here so I guess they were wanting water.
Several mornings, George, McKenzie and I walked down to the beach and watched the sun rise. We took our chairs, a table, coffee and coffee cake and settled in to watch the sun come up over the Atlantic. The water was fairly warm and though McKenzie was crazy about running around in the sand, she wanted no part of having the waves splash her! Hope you enjoy the pictures of the sunrise and feel like you are taking a walk on the beach with us, or just enjoying a cup of coffee while waiting for the sun to peak up over the water.
On Saturday, our time was up at Myrtle Beach and the bikers were coming in. We had met up with Harley bikers in both Savannah and Charleston, but these bikes wer the racing type and Myrtle Beach was expecting to increase its population by 350,000 with the influx of the bikers. They were everywhere so we all headed over to Wilmington, North Carolina to camp at an Elk's parking lot which furnishes electricity and water hookups to travelers who are members of the Elks Fraternal Organization. Though they charge on a daily basis, the cost is usually much less than a state park or RV Park. We will stay here for a week or so before heading to Kinston, North Carolina.
All of us hope you are enjoying both the pictures and traveling with us as we roam around the East Coast. Though you may not be with us physicall, we hope that mentally you are sharing our adventures. "Life is good"!
